Established in 1876 by George Henry Bass, G.H. Bass & Co. started out with a simple motto: To make the best possible shoe for the purpose for which it was intended. In 1936, the brand put a stylish spin on a Norwegian farm shoe designed for loafing in the field, and playfully dubbed them Weejuns C introducing the worlds very first penny loafer. Adopted by presidents and Hollywood legends alike, the G.H. Bass loafer has been a smart staple and key part of the subcultural uniform. We adapt the original design with heavy-duty subcultural styling and subtle Fred Perry details: chunky sole, tartan in-sock and nubuck finish.
